David Williams' Memorial Tribute
David Russell Williams grew up in Gainesville, Ga. He attended Gainesville High School and sported No. 18 as quarterback and pitcher for the Gainesville Red Elephants. He attended the University of Tennessee his freshman year of college, then hung up his cleats and transferred to the University of Georgia. David was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and graduated with a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics. While at UGA, David met the girl of his dreams and future wife, Sally. They have two children - a daughter, Cameron, and son, Jackson. David was a very proud father. His devotion to his children and their sports spanned hundreds of tennis matches and baseball games. David's other passions include Georgia football and entertaining family and friends at his lake house on Lake Lanier. Professionally, David was blessed with a wonderful career. It all began in the banking industry at Gainesville National Bank. He was quickly recruited to serve the people of Georgia as a field coordinator for Sen. Sam Nunn. He returned to banking as communications director for the Georgia Bankers Association. His last and current position held was serving as executive director for the Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority. He took the helm on July 1, 1995, and led the authority through 19 years of tremendous growth and innovation. David often said his time spent at the GSCCCA was the "job of a lifetime" spent with the best people in the world! For the last two years, David battled the rare combination of Parkinson's disease and Lou Gehrig's disease. He was relentless in his battle, but lost the fight on July 22, 2014, surrounded by family and friends.
